Despite the serious crisis that Haiti is going through, the youth have not stopped fighting for peace and the reconstruction of their society. Aware of the impact of socio-political instability on the nation, the Women’s Association for the Development of Lafon (AFADLA) is working to catalyze the young women of our area into a movement. The support we provide them aims to build a new social vision that can lead the country on the path of peace and stability.

Haiti, with its rich heritage, remains one of the most beautiful destinations in the Caribbean. Unfortunately, socio-political instability has hit the country with all its might. This instability not only affects the historical memory of the Haitian people, but also endangers national unity. Today, our sovereignty appears to be threatened, which poses a serious risk to national security. That’s why it is essential that we keep our cultural identity intact as we assist the youth in overcoming the challenge of instability.
In our commitment to preserving our heritage and valuing our national identity, there is a date that is very important in our history: May 18. This day is a sacred moment for all Haitians, because it marks the creation of our flag, a symbol of strength, freedom and independence that we achieved thanks to the courage and sacrifice of our ancestors. It is an opportunity to celebrate our national pride, as well as our values of solidarity, unity and dignity. However, May 18 is not limited to this history; it is also a moment to honor the commitment of youth, especially young women who are part of the Association of Women for the Development of Lafond (AFADLA), who continue to raise the flame of our commitment and pride.

AFADLA, through its tireless work and initiatives, is an example of the strength of women in Lafond and the entire region. These young women, proud of their heritage, play a key role in the community. Their commitment not only defends women's rights, but also contributes to the development of the region. On this occasion of May 18, they are the centerpiece of our flag celebration, which symbolizes not only our freedom, but also the justice and solidarity we proudly carry. Their participation on this day is a reminder that freedom is not something we possess and take for granted, but a daily struggle. Their commitment shows their determination to build a more just Haiti, where every citizen, especially women and youth, has an essential role to play in the advancement of the nation.
AFADLA wants to raise awareness among more than 10,000 young women in the city of Jacmel about the degradation of Haitian society. This activity will be an opportunity to seek peace through dialogue and critical reflection, while promoting a responsible approach. The administrative team will take the opportunity to emphasize the need to protect adolescents, particularly girls, because they are more vulnerable and more exposed to various dangers, especially when no measures are taken to protect them.
The Haitian people have suffered too much for too long. It is time to put an end to this situation once and for all. Finally, AFADLA wants to use this event to launch a movement committed to peace and the social reconstruction of the country.
Thank you for deciding to join hands with us!
